The Orlando police said that the teenager – whose identity has not yet been released – was missing on Wednesday evening, and the investigators regained his body on Thursday. They said six teenagers ran out of kayaks and paddle boards before the incident took place.

Swimming safety representatives in the community have a message to everyone who mourns: that they are not alone, and the memory of this teenager will never be forgotten.

“The situation with Lake Nona, I apologize,” said Arkeisha Reese, lawyer of swimming security. “My sympathy and my heart goes to the family because my family goes through it every day. It doesn't go away.”

Reese is the founder of the Team Kareem Memorial Foundation in honor of her own son Kareem, who died of the consequences of drowning.

“This weekend is Kareem's birthday and he should be here to celebrate,” said Reese. “But we have to celebrate in his memory. So I understand the pain.”

In view of the study of the death of the Non -A youth lake, her heart said to the family and everyone who is affected by this incident.

In addition, she said she founded her foundation team Kareem Memorial to educate people through swimming safety and give people of all ages swimming lessons to prevent drowning.

“We offer scholarships for floating lessons for fewer happy families,” she said. “We also have CPR and lifeguards training in our organization. Since then, drowning has been number one with the cause of death. I only have the feeling that we have to do something. I became an advocate of drowning prevention because it drowned so quickly. Drinking is quick, quiet and avoidable.”

According to the Ministry for Children and Families in Florida, 105 children died in the state last year. This number is compared to 2023, 2022 and 2021. So far, 35 have been drowned in Florida in 2025.

The CDC also reports that drowning is number 1 of the cause of death in children aged 1 to 4 and the second most common cause of death in children between the ages of 5 and 15.

The Orlando police said this incident was still active and examined.

Orange County's public schools said that they respect the wishes of the family and they no longer comment on the death of the teenager.
