'Dedicated' Peoria Doctor dies in the car SEMI crash of Western Illinois

Monmouth (25News Now) – A Peoria doctor who was connected to OSF Healthcare was killed on Thursday when the car he drove collided with a sackgner in Monmouth.

The Coroner's Office of the Warren County said Dr. Syed Imam from Peoria died the crash on the US route 67 near the 185th Avenue in Monmouth.

Illinois State Police said that the crash was reported on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

The OSF published an explanation on Friday that Dr. Imam was an “valued” member of the medical staff at the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg and the OSF Holy Family Medical Center in MONMOUTH.

“Dr. IMAM was a committed doctor at kidney care employees who provided his patients extraordinary care and was loved by his colleagues. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and three children as well as the many employees and patients who were affected by his life and service,” said OSF's explanation.

The state police examined the crash, but has not given any details about the cause.
