AMD Ryzen Ai “Medusa Point 1” processors lick up to 22 kernels

New AMD -Ryzen -KI processors, the code name “Medusa Point 1”, is expected to arrive with up to 22 kernels with the new Zen 6 architecture.

A leak has shown that the most powerful Ryzen 9 model will have two CCDs (core complex moods). One will have 12 high-performance cores, while the other 4 classic Zen 6 cores, 4 density Zen 6 cores and 2 LP cores (low performance cores).

GPU and architectural details

In the meantime, the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 Medusa Point 1 models will only use one CCD, which includes 4 classic Zen 6 cores, 4 density Zen 6 cores and 2 LP cores. This setup introduces a new distribution of nuclei that AMD has not previously used. This is similar to what Intel uses in its Mondsee processor for use with low performance.

As for the GPU, the leak indicates that it is equipped with 8 computing units (CUS) and an architecture with the name “RDNA 3.5+”. While RDNA 3.5 was already a low upgrade from RDNA 3, this new plus version may offer some minor improvements, although nothing too groundbreaking. In fact, the CUS are half of the number compared to what can be found in the Ryzen Ai Max 395+ processor.
