Aberdeens Jack Mackenzie suffers a head injury after it with an object thrown by the crowd | Football messages were hit

Aberdeens Jack Mackenzie needed stitches in the event of a head injury after he had been made from the crowd after the defeat of his team at Dundee United.

Mackenzie, who was an unused sub, was on the field when both fans spilled on the square in full-time pipe on the field after Dundee United refused fourth place from Aberdeen with a 2-1 victory.

United chief Jim Goodwin claimed that the object was from the Endhäuser Aberdeen fans.

Speak to BBC ScotlandGoodwin described the incident as “a shame”, with Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin told the club's in-house media channel that the full-back was “seriously injured”.

Goodwin said: “I deliberately took off the pitch as soon as possible because we had had in the past with the supporters of Aberdeen.

“I am really disappointed to hear that the young Jack was hit by an object that was thrown by his own supporters. He is now inside, it is an absolute shame.

“It is probably something so serious that this happens to the authorities to finally do something to identify these idiots that let a really good club down.”

An SPFL spokesman said: “It is extremely disappointing and frustrating that one of the most exciting games of the season has been affected by such nonsense behavior.

“We are waiting for the Match Delegate report, but we will work closely with clubs and police states to identify the perpetrator and to expect that adequately severe football and judicial clues will be imposed.”

Police -Mottland appeals to anyone who has seen what happened or has mobile phones of the incident to contact.

Match Commander, superintendent Ray Birnie, said: “This was a senseless action that seriously injured the player, which caused him to need medical treatment.

“This type of behavior is not tolerated and I would appeal to all fans to help us follow the person responsible.

“If you were in a fair score and have seen what happened, please do the right thing and register. I would also urge everyone who has mobile phones to check it and make something important.”

Sky Sports News has contacted both clubs for a comment.
