Celtics Star has a partial meniscus tear, per report – NBC Sports Boston

Jaylen Brown has had to do with a violation of the right knee since March, and we now know the severity of his illness.

The Boston Celtics star has a partially torn meniscus, reported Ramona Shelburne von ESPN on Saturday. Brown is “rated this week to determine whether surgery is required” per shelburne.

In March, Brown missed six games in a span of 13 games and the last three regular season due to a knee injury, which the team described as the “right knee posterior impact”. After a defeat against Miami Heat on April 3, Brown admitted that he had to do with constant knee pain, but planned to play through them.

“I had to get a grip on my normal I will not feel my normal every evening,” said Brown at the time, “but that doesn't mean that I still can't play and do things like that. So it's just something we work through.”

Brown did not miss a game in the post -season, and although his typical explosiveness was limited, he still achieved an average of 22.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

After Jayson Tatum was expelled due to a Achilles suffered in game 4, Brown helped the season in Boston in a win 5 against the New York Knicks with 26 points, eight rebounds and a playoff career height of 12 Assists.

“I don't make excuses,” said Brown after the loss of the Celtics season in game 6 on Friday. “Obviously it is difficult how we went out tonight and tonight, but as we personally ended the year, how I ended the year and held through a few physical things through which I fought, I'm proud of our group.”

How long Brown has to recover remains unclear and will depend on whether he decides to surgery, but his injury gives another fold in Boston.
