StPSO: Former MP arrested, accused of sexual battery, obscene | crime







A former deputy of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff was arrested.

Joshua Schiro, who was employed in the 1st district as the deputy of the patrol police, was released into an incident after an investigation by the agency's public integrity office, which was created on Monday with a complaint for sexual harassment for sexual harassment at work.

Members of the StPSO department for large crimes were asked to examine possible criminal charges in connection with the incident.

As a result of this investigation, the 30-year-old Schiro, who had been with the agency since March 2023, was arrested on Friday (May 16) for LRS 14: 43.1 sexual battery and LRS 14: 106 obscenity. He is instructed to the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.

“After we were made aware of this incident, we began to investigate both politics and criminal violations,” said Sheriff Randy Smith. “I stick to our employees at the highest behavioral standards and if we receive a report that one of our MPs acted inappropriately, we thoroughly examine to investigate violations of politics and/or law.”
