York Band to Headline Festival after winning the competition

A York band, which is still in the middle of its GCSes, is preparing to play an iconic event location and open a festival in front of thousands.

Vagabond, a York band that consists of three 16-year-olds, celebrates the winners of the Jovrik Radio's Battle of the Bands competition, which will play at the Mothership Festival at the Motherhip Festival in June at the Motherhip Festival.

They also published shows for the rest of the summer, including one evening in the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool and shortly.

The group consists of three members: Olly Lee (guitar and vocals), Fin Walker (vocals and bass) and Chris Barnard (drummer) – all inspire from rock, from classics such as Pink Floyd and Kurt Cobain to newer artists such as Blink -182.

Vagabond triumphed about the competition with her new single “All I see” that is to be released in just a few weeks.

The band said: “After we performed in the Lner Football Stadium, we were asked whether we could enter the Jorvik Radio 'Battle of the Bands'. We were only appropriate in May in the admission studio, but we asked Dan from the' Whiterooms' sample studios to record a live demo of 'All That We The Toway”.

“We are in the recording studio of 'Young Thugs' in a few weeks and take up our first EP. We intend to publish some singles later in the year. We constantly write many new original songs and expect to choose the best material for recording our first album in the near future.

“We are all highly motivated to become a full -time musician and to drive the band forward, record it and tour in our energetic style!

“This is just the beginning for us!”

After her victory, Jamie Morgan, moderator of Jorvik Radio, said: “Vagabond was absolutely deserved winner and I know that you will be a fantastic opening act!”

The band edition in the Coney Street (Image: provided) The band added that they did not have difficulty compensating for busking, gigs and school because they enjoy playing so much, and their success is due to endless hours of rehearsal, live shows, busking and “unshakable commitment to the creation of energy-minded music”.

Vagabond will play the Motherhip Festival on May 26th in the Haxby Sports Bar, on May 26th, in the Cavern and will open the Motherhip Festival with other appearances for the summer.
