Scheifele evaluates the loss of the jets, hours after the father's death

Dallas-Das Winnipeg Jets Center Mark Scheifele achieved hours after his father's unexpected death.

But he also had the penalty that brought the power play goal of the stars in the extension for a 2-1 win, in which the top jets were thrown out of the playoffs.

Jets captain Adam Lowry went and got Scheifele out of the box when the game ended.

“We are a family. To let him know that we are there for him. It's just a terrible day for him,” said Lowry. “You want to give him the strength, you want to get this kill so bad. We just couldn't do it.”

During the Handshake line afterwards, Scheifele hugged and spoke to almost everyone, with Stars players clearly supported their support in a heartwarming moment.

Scheifele scored his fifth goal of the playoffs for 5 ½ minutes in the second period to bring the jets 1-0 in the lead. He achieved a short snapshot from the fold after collecting the rebound of a shot from Kyle Connor.

“I only know that we have a great group here. I knew that we found out in the news that he will have a great self -help group and that we will be there for him through the ups and lows and are obviously a real low,” said Defenseman Neal Pionk about Scheifele. “[We] did everything we could to give him some encouraging words, [and] So that he can play tonight and play like this, it is one of the bravest things we have ever seen. “

The game was tied at 1 when Sam Steel, who had already achieved after Dallas, was during a break. Scheifele desperately fell forward and tried to play a bit when he stumbled the striker on the blue line with 14.8 seconds in the regulation. Scheifele and the jets avoided a penalty to the play, but lost the power game when Thomas Harley achieved 1:33 in extra time.

Jets coach Scott Arniel said that the news of Brad Scheifeles overnight was difficult for the entire team. The team was informed of skate before the optional morning.

“In the name of the Winnipeg Jets family, our condolences to Mark and his family. It shook us all morning all the morning when we found out,” said Arniel before the game. “Mark will play tonight. As he said, that would be his father's wishes. He would have wanted him to play.”

Scheifele was the last Jets player who left the ice after the foreplay, and while singing “O Canada” he lingered at least part of singing “O Canada” and closed his eyes. He took the feeling of opening against Roope Hintz.

“The thing with Mr. Scheifele is that he is part of our family. He is part of the Jets family. He goes back to 2011 when Mark was moved in here for the first time,” said Arniel. “We have a lot of players who came around the time that they are still here that he was a large part of their lives with their family. So it is certainly devastating for Mark, but also for many people in this team.”

Kevin Cheveldayoff, General Manager of Winnipeg, said the organization was doing everything possible to support Scheifele. There was no immediate word about Brad Scheifele's death.

The 32-year-old Mark Scheifele ended with 11 points (five goals, six templates) when he played in 11 games of the jets in this off-season. He missed the games 6 and 7 of the first round against St. Louis with an unknown injury after achieving two big hits at the beginning of game 5 of this series.

In game 5 against the stars on Thursday evening, a 4-0 win from Winnipeg that expanded the series, Scheifele was padded by the stars during a late scrum by the stars Captain Jamie Benn. Benn received a punishment for misconduct and was punished by the NHL with a fine of $ 5,000, but avoided suspension.

Scheifele had 87 points in the 82 games of the regular season (39 goals and 48 templates).
