Trend with signature Mike: Wallpaper is not only valid for walls

It was a hurricane of a week for yours really!

My weekly television program on CBS Channel 12 WRDW on Saturday evening was so popular that the network asked me to host my show on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3 p.m. three days a week! We started last week.

To say that I was excited is an understatement!

The show is a design for design, homebuilding, conversion and lifestyle programs, and my hope is that, like my weekly column, I enable people to make smart design decisions here.

I hope I inspire people to take their many options into account when building, rebuilt or just decorated.

Wallpaper has become a very popular design element again! I love wallpaper. It can help to give a space a content or a color topic. It can add texture or pattern. It can be an overall design or a large pattern or a mural. It can be installed on walls or blankets. It's so versatile!

The wallpaper is assessed by the individual role, but it is packaged and sold in a double role. This can be very confusing for a person who is not familiar with the functioning.

There are also a variety of latitudes. Most background images are 21 inches to 27 inches wide and 11 meters long (double role). You have to repeat the pattern when you find out how many roles your project needs. With these parameters, a certain waste is always involved. Often there are still a few meters for every run. It feels a shame to throw away the remains. Especially when the paper is expensive or fabulous pattern or texture.

Let us consider some options when using these scrap pieces.

You can cover a painter screen with wallpapers and attach it on the back while it is winding the canvas. You can use a small canvas and a width of the paper or insert more width on a larger canvas and seam.

I sometimes cover large books with wallpapers, similar to some parents with paper bags or paper paper for your children's textbooks. Perhaps use some unattractive college books or old do-it yourself books that are out of fashion. You can have these books on your coffee table or your bookshelves.

I love that my old photo albums are useful during a visit to show friends. However, the old photo albums can be unattractive. If you wrap these albums with paper, you can coordinate with your decor much more easily when displaying.

You can line shelves in your kitchen drawers or chest of drawers with scaffolding wallpaper.

The riser or the back of stairs can be deleted boring and usually white. Wallpaper could really pull up a staircase and only need 10 inches or less height per staircase.

If the wallpaper is printed on paper and not on vinyl, it can be folded and processed into origami sculptures.

Tissue boxes can sometimes be very bright and unattractive. You can use wallpaper scrap to dress up a handkerchief box and give it a pop that coordinates with your room.

A oatmeal container or a round metal shape can be dressed with paper.

Just because it means wallpaper does not mean that it only has to be used on the walls!
