State police examined a fatal crash in Greenwood – Delaware State Police

The Delaware State Police examines a fatal crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Greenwood, in which a man was made dead.

On May 16, 2025, a black Toyota Prius drove south at the Staytonville Road at around 4:59 p.m. and approached the crossroads of the Shawnee Road in Greenwood. At the same time, a blue Nissan Sentra traveled to the west on the Shawnee Road and approached the Staytonville Road. For the reasons examined, the Toyota did not stop at the stop sign and entered the path of Nissan. As a result, the Nissan hit the driver's side of the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota, a 77-year-old man from Eastowfield, Pennsylvania, was taken to a hospital in which he later died. His name is held back until his family is notified.

The 37-year-old male driver of Nissan, a 26-year-old passenger, and a 5-year-old male passenger, all from Bear, Delaware, were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

The road was closed for about three hours, while the scene was examined and clarified.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to examine this incident. The soldiers ask everyone who has seen this crash to contact Senior Corporal J.
