3 Golden Hawks scored in the 90s to make the first team River Valley

Muscatine

When the girls from mid-Prairies bring it onto the market in the first round of the class 2a after season tournament on the Kalona Golf Course, the slaughter lines seemed to be so familiar.

The same will pass in a 2A regional in West Liberty next week.

Mid-Prairie and Tipton.

Tipton and mid-prairie.

Last week in Muscatine Tipton hit first place with a 13-shot victory at the River Valley Conference Championship tournament to stop the Golden Hawks title series in the league after two years.

Tiptons Paycee Sorgenfrey and Sydney Stutzel ended a two, but three Golden Hawks, led by Morgyn Bender, ended the top six.

Last Wednesday, Bender scored a 93 on the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course and ended 8 blows behind Sorgenfrey, and Addison English and Olivia Swartzendruber each recorded 97 to reach sixth place. All three Golden Hawks were appointed the first team as the first team.

“Back on back (title) is good, but three would have been hard,” said Mcartor. “It's great to get second place. The children really fought hard today. Everyone had one or two battles. They worked it through and they did not give up and saved every shot they could.

“And then it is also great to have three children in the all-Conference team. If you have half of your university squad, it's a pretty nice performance.”

Lilly Miller, a senior, shot a 102 to earn the general mention.

Delani Blum posted a 117.

In addition to the mid-prairie and tipon, the 5B will include Regina Catholic, West Branch, West Liberty, Wilton, MediaPolis and Central Lee on Friday.

“For the most part,” said Mcartor, “we will see all of these schools.”

The two best teams will rise to the final of region 5 in West Liberty on May 21st. If the mid-prairie presenter is one of the two best, three teams will progress.

The two best teams at the regional final will go on the Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike on May 29 and 30 on May 29 and 30 on the 2A State Championship Meet.

Durant 209

Addison English, Senior of Golden Hawks, achieved a 46-performance ratio on Monday as a second place with a 17-stroke victory against Durant on the Kalona Golf Course.

Lilly Miller scored a 47, Morgyn Bender had a 48, Olivia Swartzendruber had a 51, Paiton Chittick had a 56 and Delani Blum had a 57.

“A great way to end the regular season and prepare for the regionals on Friday,” said Mcartor. “If the girls do the same on Friday, they will be okay and hopefully they will play even better. We just have to have a better start than we do. Even with the good points, we too often dig a hole in the round and then we work too much to get back on the right track.

Alena Sniders 51 In the JV-Match led to a team score of 231. Drea McCain scored a 56, Gracie Peiffer had a 60, Annette Witthoft scored a 61, Ariel Kaufman had a 63, Addy Kron had a 64 and Laurin Fay had a 65.

“This was the last competition for you and you made great progress all season,” said Mcartor. “Everyone worked very hard on their game this year and from where they started the season, they should be really proud of themselves.”
