Red Bull in “really critical” situation after a huge Yuki Tsunoda crash at Imola

Helmut Marko destroys his RB21 in a massive Q1 accident and says that Yuki Tsunoda's crash is a “big setback” for spare parts, since Imola is just a race in the latest triple header from F1.

Tsunoda suffered an evil accident in the opening qualification segment for the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna when he lost control of his Red Bull in round 6.

Tsunoda's crash brought Red Bull to a “really critical” situation

The Japanese driver turned into the gravel before catapining the tire wall with the power of the impact on the barrier.

The Japanese driver was able to move away from the crash, although his mechanics were confronted in a late night, which required the repairs.

“I was very ashamed, disappointed,” he told the media, including Planetf1.com. “It was really stupid for myself to push so unnecessarily hard.”

Tsunoda apologized very much for his mechanics, given the work that was in front of them.

“The only thing I can do is apologize and just pray with you,” he said. “The car obviously had a lot of damage, so the mechanics have to do a lot of work until tomorrow. Hopefully the car will be ready.

“Very unnecessary for you and for me in the wrong situation.”

But while Marko recognizes the most important thing, Tsunoda is not injured in the crash, says the Red Bull Motorsport consultant that it was a big blow, because Red Bull's spare parts situation.

Tsunoda led the improved RB21 in Imola, the Japanese driver, who marked the same specific specification, which Max Verstappen ran in Miami for the first time, the race of one of the latest triple haoders of the F1.

Marko says that Red Bull's situation is now “critical” after the extensive damage to Tsunoda's car.

“Thank God nothing happened to him personally,” said Marko Sky Germany.

“It is a big setback for us, because there are now three races in a row. Monte Carlo in particular is not exactly forgivable if you have a slip there. And the situation of the spare parts has become very critical.”

But he was not about to Lambasten Tsunoda and said: “You have to give him security and support. And we will do that.”

Tsunoda told the media that he was grateful for Red Bull's support and refuted the suggestions that pressure led to his imola crash.

“I think the team supports me enough to take off the pressure as far as possible,” he said. “I just tried to be a hero in Q1, which is unnecessary. Pull too much and aim to insist on Q1 in just one sentence.”

Tsunoda is likely to start the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna from the pit lane, while his teammate Verstappen is on the grid alongside Oscar Piatri P2.

The championship manager defeated the reigning world champion by 0.034, but Marko hopes that the fourth time will be a charm, with Verstappen not winning the last three times that he set up in the front row next to a McLaren.

“I don't think tire clothing will be such a problem. You just have to see whether you can gain something at the beginning or in other ways through strategy because overtaking on the route is very difficult,” said Marko.
