The Mexican naval ship crashes against the New York Brooklyn Bridge – two dead and others injured | US messages

A Mexican naval ship came across the New York Brooklyn Bridge and two crew members dead and at least 17 other people.

The Mexican Navy said in a post on X that the Cuauhtemoc, an academy training ship with 277 people on board, was damaged in the collision.

Video published online showed the ship that flew a big one Mexican Flag, reversed and meet the underside of the bridge.

It shook the tip of his masts and dipped towards the Brooklyn side of the East River when the spectators fell away from the shore.

Marine cadets dressed in white uniforms were able to dangle from the crossbars of the ship after the crash.

new York Eric Adams, Mayor of the city, said two people died and 17 others were injured, including two who were in a critical condition.

Witnesses said they had seen two people who were removed from the ship on stressers.

It is believed that nobody fell into the water.

The 45 m (45 m) masts were too big to clear the arched bridge and fell when the ship named after the last Aztec emperor sailed down.

The Cuauhtemoc, a training ship of the Mexican Navy, hit the Brooklyn Bridge in New York on Saturday evening

It was unclear what caused the ship to set up the course. The chief of police of New York, Wilson Aramboles, said the ship had just left a pier in Manhattan and should not have been led to the sea, not towards the bridge.

He said a first report stated that the ship lost the power supply due to a mechanical problem.

Police commissioner Jessica Tisch said that the national transportation Safety Board would take over the investigation.

Mr. Adams said that a “uniform effort” was underway to “ensure that we take care of everyone who was on the ship”.

Since then, the bridge that is a main channel between Manhattan and Brooklyn has reopened without any serious damage.

Every year at the end of the lesson, it drops on the Naval Military School to complete the formation of cadets.
