Why is Virat Kohli on X?

Before a report report by the Guardian, the former Indian captain Virat Kohli is confronted with high criticism of the Social Media platform X that the English County Team Middlesex has been interested in signing it for the upcoming domestic season. The impact symbol has withdrawn from tests and T20IS to concentrate on the ODI format.

Kohli, one of the most famous cricket players in his generation, has never shown in the English County Cricket, especially in 2018 with Surrey, which is through a neck injury.

Alan Coleman, Cricket Director at Middlesex, committed the club's interest and said: “Virat Kohli is the best -known player in his generation. Of course we are interested to have this conversation.”

Virat Kohli faces the rumored county stint

While no official confirmation of Kohli or BCCI comes with regard to such a step, the mere possibility that Kohli joined a County team has triggered outrage online under a section of Indian fans.

Several users of X have tended Hashtags like #nationalhamekohli and accused Kohli of being “unpatriotic”, possibly combining with an English home side, although such steps for professional development and experience occur quite frequently.

Some of the toughest reactions contain posts such as:

“Virat Kohli moved to England for the first time. Now he will soon play from London's Middlesex County Cricket Club. #Nationalhamekohli”

“Kick out @imvkohli from India …”

“Difference between nationalistic and anti-nationalistic,” said a user.

Another wrote: “Virat Kohli is the main culprit of WC 2015 2019 & 2023. #Nationalhamekohli”.

This counter reaction seems to come more for emotional than for rational reasons, considering that many Indian sizes – including Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara – have played in the past without controversial county cricket.

So far, no official contract or no contract agreement has been announced, and whether Kohli will join Middlesex or not.
