2 die in a fiery crash along the I-75 near Ocala, say soldiers

Marion County, Fla. – Both the driver and the front passenger of an SUV, which collapsed along the Interstate 75 near Ocala on Saturday, died at the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:35 p.m. when the SUV on the I-75 on the right lane north of County Road 484 (mileailk 341) drove north (Mile Marker 341).

For the reasons unknown at the time, the driver seems to have lost control of the SUV that left the road to the right, entered the Ostgras shoulder and, according to a FHP fall report, hit the concrete base of a light rod.

The SUV was completely devoured in Flames and Marion County Fire Rescue later explained his two occupants at the scene, the report said.

The positive identification for the driver and passenger – described in the report as female and male – is the examination of FHP, according to the soldiers.
