Two dead and 19 injured after the Mexican ship appears on land brand New York City: Live updates

Sydney Neidell and Lily Katz told the Associated Press that they were sitting outside to watch the sunset when they saw the ship hit the bridge. When they looked closer, they saw someone who dangled up on the ship.

“We saw someone dangling and I couldn't say whether it was just blurred or my eyes, and we could zoom on on our phone, and at least 15 minutes before they could save them, someone from above was out of the dishes,” said Ms. Katz.

All three masts of the Mexican shipping ship snatched the Brooklyn Bridge after a collision.

At least two people were killed and 19 people were injured when a sailing ship of the Dremastic Mexican Navy, the Cuauhtémoc, which Brooklyn Bridge met on New York East River.

At a press conference, the Mayor of New York said Eric Adams that in contrast to previous reports, nobody had gone to the East River and that all injuries were suffered on board the high ship.

The collision occurred shortly before 9 p.m., with all three 147-foot masts of the ship hit and grabbed the bridge when the ship seemed to move backwards.

Images appeared online and seemed to show several seafarers who subsequently hold on to the masts.

The Mexican naval training ship Cuauhtémoc, which hit the unders' bottom of the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday evening, was relocated to Pier 36 in New York to allow passengers to take over safely, said a law enforcement officer.

About 250 people stayed on board the ship after his masts hit the bridge during the departure from Pier 17.

The ship was on the way to the open sea to Iceland as part of an international goodwill tour.

Wilson Aramboles, head of the New York police authority, said that the first reports “mechanical problems” interpret, and a power failure caused the collision.

He said the ship lost the power supply due to a mechanical problem, although the officials warned that the information was temporarily.

The first reports had suggested that people were in the water. Mr. Meyers said that the responders quickly built two command posts on both Brooklyn and Manhattan website to coordinate the emergency efforts.

FDNY Marine units transported Rescue 2 and rescue 4 teams to the ship, where they started to evacuate and treat passengers. A total of 27 people were removed from the ship for medical treatment.

“The police, the fire and the EMS have done enormous work to get everyone safely from this ship,” said Meyers.

The Cuauhtémoc, a training vessel of the Mexican Navy, was on a goodwill tour and sailed to New York Harbor on Tuesday.

Dozens of naval cadets were on the masts, while others who were dressed in traditional Mexican clothing were waiting nearby. The ship is used to train sailors, captains and officers at the heroic marine military school Mexico, as can be seen from one of his cruises.

Every year the Cuauhtémoc sail at the end of the academic term to complete the training of the cadets.

The Cuauhtémoc is a triple bark packed with steel, which was launched in 1982 and measures a length of about 300 feet.

In an explanation, the Mexican Navy said that the ship had left on April 6th to find a 254-day mission that aims to “increase the seafarer, to strengthen the naval training and to carry the Mexican people's message of peace and good champions to the seas and ports of the world”.

The ship should visit 22 ports in 15 nations for over 254 days, 170 of them at sea.

The planned travel route included stops in New York, Kingston (Jamaica), Havana, Reykjavik, Aberdeen, Avilés, Bridgetown and London.

However, the tour was suddenly stopped after the collision in New York, with the authorities initiating the incident.
