Israel plans to force Gazans into 3 security zones

New York City: UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres has repeated his rejection of a common Israeli American plan to avoid his organization in providing help for Gaza.

The UN's comments came two days after the satellite images had determined the construction centers in the enclave.

Guterres spoke on Saturday at the annual Arab League summit in Baghdad, where the situation in Gaza dominated the agenda.

The Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani said in his opening speech at the summit: “This genocide (in Gaza) has achieved a level of ugliness that is unprecedented in all conflicts in history.”

In addition to Gaza, the UN boss also drew attention to events in West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Libya.

He opened his speech by praising the head of the Arab league, Ahmed Aboul, and said that the UN hopes to further strengthen its partnership with the league.

“I am alarmed by the reported plans of Israel, to expand the land operations and more,” he added, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unhindered auxiliary flow for the enclave.

Since March, Israel has implemented a total blockade of humanitarian aid in starting Gaza Strip to improve the pressure on Hamas.

The latest Israeli plan, which enables third parties to deliver help, aim to ensure that deliveries reach the right people, the country's ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, said.

However, Guterres has repeatedly rejected the Israeli plan.

“I emphasize that the UN will not participate in a so -called auxiliary operation that does not adhere to international law and humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality,” he said on Saturday.

The UN chief also emphasized the situation in the West Bank, in which the annexation of the settlers and the structure of illegal settlements are escalated.

“Annexion is illegal. Settlements are illegal,” he said.

Guterres raised a high-ranking conference in the next month about the Palestinian edition, which was organized by Saudi Arabia and France as an “important opportunity”.

He said: “The world, the region and especially the people in Palestine and Israel cannot afford to see the two-state solution before our eyes disappear.”

In Lebanon, Guterres praised the “said commitment of the Lebanese officials to ensure a state monopoly over weapons”.

It comes as the peace -preserving power of the UN in the country, Unifil, together with the Lebanese army to confiscate the Hisbollah weapons in the south of the country.

In neighboring Syria, a political process “on the basis of the most important principles of the Security Council Resolution 2254” will protect the rights and participation of all Syrians regardless of ethnicity and religion, said Guterres.

The UN chief also welcomed the Houth-US armistice mediated by Oman, which was reached at the beginning of this month.

“The path of violence must stop when we work for a negotiated political settlement of Yemenen,” he said.

Guterres said that he was “very grateful” to the Arab league and the African Union for “the excellent coordination meeting that we could have in the Sudan situation yesterday.

“In Libya, we actively deal with national and international actors to end the confrontation between armed groups, to preserve the independence of important supervisory institutions, to define the obstacles to preventing national elections and the course for long-term stability and wealth-in harmony with the needs and aspects of the Libyan people,” he said.

The Arab league is an “important partner” in these efforts, he added.

“Despite the enormous challenges, we will pull lessons and hope from here in Baghdad. If we work in unity and solidarity, we can help to solve conflicts and build a future of peace and prosperity,” said Guterres.

“This is the common goal of the Arab league and the United Nations, and I look forward to further deepening our partnership.”
