Mike Pence criticizes Trump in tariffs and important foreign policy questions than he goes from a distance

“We used the threat of tariffs as a lever for negotiations, Kristen,” said Pence, adding later: “What I see in this administration is a steady journey to a baseline of maybe even 10% tariffs, which in my opinion would be harmful to jobs in America.

Pence also criticized Trump's frequent line about who pays tariffs when they are imposed.

“As the President often told me, he feels that other countries pay tariffs,” said Pence, “if the reality of Americans buy abroad, the company that imports these goods in this country pays the tariff and more often passes to consumers.”

Views of Vance and the role of the Vice President

When asked whether he had objections to certain consumer goods, which Trump imposed during his first term, Pence admitted that he probably had it, but privately.
