Jury recommends death for Ryan Cole

On May 2, a jury of the district of Charlotte Ryan Cole sentenced in 2019 for murder to Kyler Edmund.

Before the procedure in 2024, Cole submitted several applications to declare Florida's 2023 capital judgment system as unconstitutional. In February, the court rejected the applications that the current statute that enables the 8-4 recommendation of a jury for death would apply.

According to the jury's guilt-phase judgment, the case went to a guilt phase. On Thursday, May 15, a jury recommended that Cole be sentenced to death with a 10: 2 vote.

Before he received his final recommendation, the jury unanimously found that the state undoubtedly demonstrated both serious factors:

According to the current law on the capital conviction, the court has the discretion of imposing an LWOP penalty and death despite the recommendation of the jury. The conviction is set for June 17th.
