“I have standing water in my 2023 Toyota Camry's trunk, and mold grows. That can't be normal. Toyota, that shouldn't happen with my car.”

This is what Karli Slaten (@Karli.slaten) says in her Tikkok video, and she wants to know why there is water in the trunk of her camry. She is not the only newer Camry owner who has this problem.

First imagine you open your trunk to use food after shopping and to see water pearls on the top of the spare tire, standing water in the floor and mold in your trunk. You don't want to use the fresh products you bought into the trunk with mold because this could be a health problem.

Now you can even smell the damp smell on the way home. All you can imagine is a form that penetrates the interior of the car. You don't even want to drive the vehicle.

Let us pick up Karli's story.

She says: “Can someone tell me why my 2023 Toyota Camry, which is basically a new car, is so in? I have a serious leak in my trunk.” Karli takes her cell phone, opens her camry trunk and records her trunk and shows water stains around the entire edge around the spare tire. “As you can see, there is water and even mold grows.”

Then she swings the camera to show standing water on the bottom of the spare tire. “There is a standing water,” she says.

When she closes the trunk, she expresses her frustration.

The Toyota dealer does not give back Karlis repeated calls.

“I did two more attempts to contact the dealership, but they continued to ignore my calls. This is simply unacceptable,” she says, shaking her head in disbelief.

The lack of reaction of the Toyota dealer to Karlis repeated telephone calls is not only frustrating, but also disrespectful for you as a customer.

“Next I went to the Toyota dealer and asked to speak to someone in the service department. So the service manager comes out to look at the problem. After checking my trunk, he told me that they couldn't do anything about it. The service manager looked at my trunk and told me that.”

“Toyota, that shouldn't happen with my car, and you have to tell me why I have water and mold in the trunk of my car.”

Does the Toyota Camry have a leaky regular problem?

According to reports of newer Toyota Camry owners, yes. It is a common problem that many owners have registered. This is often due to worn or damaged seals around the trunk lid or the taillights so that water can penetrate the trunk.

According to Reddit user PM_ME_YOUR_KINDWORDS, “The trunk of my camry smelled musty, and when I examined it became clear to me that it was probably a gallon or more water on the bottom of the trunk (around the spare tire and under the book).”

“I cleaned it up and tried to find out the cause. My best guess was that over time, parking over time on a slope, water (and finally dirt) could not run out as it was designed, and had accumulated on/below/around the poetry to seal the trunk.”

“So I cleaned the seal (and everything else) well and thought it was fine for years. But after more rain there is more water.”

Why does the Toyota dealer not fix the problem with the trunk leak?

Toyota has no recall for this problem, and it is likely that Karlis 2023 Toyota Camry will no longer have a guarantee. She says that she bought the car again in 2022, and if it was at the beginning of the model year, she has more than 36,000 miles on her camry.

Only the camry engine, the gearbox/transaxle, the front wheel drive, the rear drive, the seat belts and the airbags are covered below the 60 months/60,000 mile drive drive guarantee.

The service manager would have announced Karli that he could fix the problem with a new case seal. However, she would have to pay for the repair and Karli wanted the dealer to pay for it.

Weather -Streeting can be bought in the Toyota section.

Justanswer says: “Most likely you have a seal that is flattened and does not seal well enough. If so, see your local Toyota dealer department to buy a new seal. It's pretty easy to replace.”

“Stand away from the Aftermarket trains and the universal Weather strip, since it will probably make the problem worse. And guide all of the water in the replacement tire of the trunk to prevent a mold from forming.

Here is a more detailed explanation:

  • Weather -Steping damage: The rubber seals (Weather stream) around the trunk lid can deteriorate over time and the water incorporate.
  • Time seals: The seals around the taillights can also deteriorate so that water can penetrate.
  • Drainage problems: Blockades in the drainage channels of the trunk can prevent water from going out the trunk properly, which leads to pooling and potential leaks.
  • Seam problems: The seams in the trunk plate can sometimes divide so that water can spray.
  • Pressure relief: A pressure relief that is often found near the taillights can also expire if it is not properly sealed.

Diploma

If you have a trunk clever in your Toyota Camry like Karli, inspect the seals, taillights and drainage channels. You can also try to pour water onto the rear window, whereby the original lid is open to see where the water occurs.

You can buy the luggage seal from your local Toyota dealer and have it replaced, or you can do it yourself. In a Reddit thread, the silicon layer is discussed for re -ing taillights. A YouTube video shows how you can find and repair stemwater leaks in your car.
