Jets QB Jordan Travis retires due to serious leg injuries at the FSU

Jordan Travis pushed through the fights of a long and brave comeback through a serious leg injury until he was told that it was time to finally go away.

The New York Jets announced on Wednesday that the quarterback told them that he would play football, a surprising NFL end for the 24-year-old former star of Florida State.

Travis injured his left leg during a game against North Alabama in November 2023 when he last played at any level in a game. His left leg rolled under a defender, turned his ankle clumsy and broke.

Travis was a draft pick in the fifth round last year, but spent the jets on the non-football injury list last season. The team will now place him in the list of reserve/pensioners.

“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn,” said Travis in a statement published by the jets. “I gave everything I had, the rehab process, but despite all efforts, my leg never reacted as we hoped. After a lot of prayer and advice with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I was medically withdrawing from the game that I love so deep.”

Travis, who took fifth place this year in the Heisman Trophy vote, completed 63.9% of his passports with 20 TDS and two interception and improved his design and led the seminols to an 11-0 start before his injury.

Shortly after his creation, Travis admitted that one day he thought about replacing Aaron Rodgers as a New York quarterback. He also insisted that he never had any doubts that he would recover and play again from his injury.

“No, never,” he said last May. “I mean, I love adversity. I love to wake up every day and have to make a choice. It just makes the story a lot cooler. I always said that, from the day I have broken my leg so far.

“I love it, man. So, no, I've never had any doubts in my head.”

Travis' Agentin Deiric Jackson told ESPN in March that the jets tried the rehabilitation of the quarterback “sustained” and caused this to set up in his recovery. The team said it followed the plan that the surgeon created by Travis, and Jackson was “optimistic” that the quarterback would be ready for this season.

Darren Mougey, General Manager of Jets, declined last week to express Travis during the design when he was asked about his recovery.

“Jordan informed us about his intention, due to the injury he suffered in the state of Florida, to retire,” said Mougey in a statement on Wednesday. It is unfortunate that after so hard he could not return in the field. We support his decision and wish him the best. “

In a hand-printed note that was published in his X account, Travis said that he was “overwhelmed by gratitude” when he thought about his trip. He contained his statement, which was shared by the jets, and thanked the team for “believing in me and provided me with the opportunity to live the ultimate dream”. He also thanked his families, friends, coaches and teammates for their support.

“It's crazy how quickly life can change,” wrote Travis. “This is not the end that I have ever imagined, but I particularly trust the Lord's plan.”
