Van Veens Karrei-best-score leads PCM Boys in second place in section new Daily News

Monroe-Easton van Veen achieved a career best number of points on his home course and led the PCM young golf team into the next round of the post-season.

The Mustangs went to the district tournament after a second place in a class 2a section on Wednesday.

PCM shot a 303 on the Gateway Recreation Golf Course. The Mustangs, who have the seventh 18-hole average in 2A, were eight shots from Pella Christian.

The Eagles won the section title with a 295, but Van Veen was the Meet medalist with a career. 70. It was a stroke as a Pella Christian Cooper Spronk, who, as a second place, shot a medal winner as a second place.

The Eagles went four of the six top single stains while PCM 1-7-8-9 went.

The West Branch also climbed into the districts with a 317th Iowa City Regina (323), the Mid-Prairie (327), North Mahaska (353), Wilton (358) and Durant (363).

The three best teams and the two best individuals as well as a progressive team that qualifies for districts.

Tate Tangeman took the seventh place with a 77 and Pete Kiernan (78) and Jeffery McDanel (78).

For Kiernan it was a career for Kiernan, and Charlie Ford (80) and Parker Dehaai (career best 84) gave in non-counts results.

Daniel Clark by Bryce Henry and Grayson Gingerich and Iowa City Regina, Bryce Henry and Grayson Gingerich shot 78 to find an individual.

The district tournament will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. on the BOS Land Golf Course in Pella.

The other teams present are Albia, Central Lee, Mediapolis, Tipton, Cascade and Beckman Catholic.

With an 18-hole average of 307.85, Pella Christian occupies third place in 2a. Central Lee (311.33), Albia (315.6) and PCM (316.1) show the fourth, sixth and seventh place in 2a.
