2 dead after crash in Lexington County

Lexington County, SC (WIS) – Two people died on Sunday evening after an accident in Lexington County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

Soldiers said the collision occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at the intersection of the Neely Wingard Road and Ben Franklin Road, which is about eight miles east of Batesburg-Leesville.

A Jeep Laredo from 2019 drove to the east with a Chevrolet Malibu from 2004, which had driven south on the Neely Wingard Road.

The driver was the only person in the Jeep Laredo, and according to SCHP there were three people in Chevy Malibu.

Soldiers said two of the people in Chevy Malibu died due to the crash. The conditions of the other two people involved are unknown at this point.

Highway Patrol continues to examine the crash.
