It may no longer be a rivalry weekend, but the slate on Monday evening includes a matchup between two teams that have played closely in recent years, including some playoff matchups not too long ago. In the first game of this three-game series, the Tampa Bay Rays (21-25) organize the Houston Astros (24-22) in George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The rays faced the Miami Marlins in the Sunshine series at the weekend to complete a road trip with six games. They dropped two of the three games after winning two of the three against the Toronto Blue Jays during the week. In total, the rays have changed victories and losses in each of their last eight games.

Houston played a series with four games over the weekend, took over the Texas Rangers and divided this series evenly. The Astros won a total of seven of their last 11 games.

This will be the first meeting of the year between astros and rays. Last year Houston won the season series 4-2, including 3-0 in Tampa (in Tropicana Park). A few years ago, these teams had a few playoff matchups – the Astros won the Alds in 2019, then the rays came back next year and won the Alcs.
