Police in Florida, Sheriff examines the 81-year-old man who lives in the group house WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sport

Bartow, Florida (WFTS) -Bartow Police and the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) are currently examining a murder after the “violent death” of an 81-year-old man in an independent residential group in the Bluebird Avenue.

“It is scary,” said neighbor Gary Scheuneman. “And if you are two houses, are you how 'do we have to worry about what could happen to us?'”

In a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that the first reports point out that the man was last seen alive on Saturday evening. And due to his typical routine of skipping breakfast, he was discovered dead on Sunday shortly before noon, which prompted a 9-1-1 call at the Bartow Police Department.

“We know that he died violent death,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “We don't publish any details because it is far too early.”

Officials said the man was based in the facility that was operated by ET Care.

“You are not a troublemaker, so you know how” wow – an older gentleman like this. “Why should someone want to hurt him?” Very very worrying. “

Scheuneman has been living in the neighborhood for about nine years and said that nothing like that ever happened.

“It's sad, you know,” said Gary Scheuneman. “It is very annoying that something like that could happen so close to her neighborhood, so close to home.”

Officials said they will offer an update on Monday.
