The Maryland Symphony Orchestra organizes a free lecture by the community that examines the connection between Beethoven and Taylor Swift.

The event entitled “The Art of the Content: The Music of Beethoven with Taylor Swift” will take place on Tuesday, May 20th, in the Hub City Brewery, 25 W. Church St., in downtown Hagerstown in the Hub City Brewery, the 25 W. Church St., in downtown Hagerstown.

Kyle Weary, coordinator for music training and guest assistant professor for music training at Gettysburg College, will lead the lecture. He is also the artistic director of the Gettysburg children's choir and more frequently guest conductor at Maryland Symphony Orchestra.

The lecture is the last issue of the lecture series 2024–25 of the MSO.

WEARY will examine how Beethoven's symphony No. 9 and Swift's genre-rustic career communicate complex emotions, handicrafts and inspired audience over generations.

“Beethoven and Swift may appear an unlikely combination,” said Weary in the publication. “But both use music to tell deep human stories. This lecture is about rethinking limits and hugging the power of music, combining us.”

The participants receive a free beverage ticket to celebrate the last lecture of the season and, according to publication, make it a perfect event for music lovers, educators, students and curious minds.

The event is free, but RSVPS will be requested at Taylorswiftlecture.eventbrite.com.
