Live updates: Trump's call with Putin and Ukraine peace talks; GOP calculation in the congress

Vice President JD Vance said that President Donald Trump will ask Russian President Vladimir Putin whether he “Ernst” with Ukraine “Ernst” in a telephone call “Ernst” this morning.

Vance emphasized that the United States “do not turn their bikes” if they try to achieve a solution.

While Vance said: “It is difficult to determine an obstacle to achieve an armistice, confirmed how” an open question “is whether Putin is serious about negotiating peace.

“I am not sure whether Vladimir Putin himself has a strategy for how to do the war. Of course it has been going on for a few years,” added Vance and said he thought “the president would agree”.

Vance also said that the United States is still “more than open to the way”.

“We want to see the results and the first big result we wanted to see about, which we were happy about, is that we wanted to see the Russians and the Ukrainians to put a real peace proposal on the table. What should you do to fight?

While Putin did not appear for direct conversations that he had proposed last week, Russian and Ukrainian delegations met in Turkey on Friday and agreed with a large-scale prisoner exchange. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who agreed to meet Putin directly, criticized him for sent a “low” delegation and said the Russian leader was “afraid”.

Before Trump's 10 a.m. call, Vance said: “I was only on the phone. I know that he is looking forward to it and I wish him all the best. I think he is the right type to negotiate for the country.”

During a briefing with reporters on Monday, the press spokesman for the White House said Karoline Leavitt, Trump was “tired and frustrated by both sides of the conflict” and added that his goal is “to see a ceasefire and to end this conflict”.

Leavitt said that the president still wants to meet Putin, as he said reporters in the Middle East last week that it would depend on today's call.
