Friends remember a pregnant mother of 3 years, who was killed by allegedly drunk drivers

Toledo, Ohio (WTVG)-A 24-year-old man from Oregon is suspended in front of a series of charges, including two counts of the second degree, after he was supposed to fall into a mother of three children, who was also pregnant.

The Sheriff's office of Monroe County said that speed and alcohol were a factors in the crash.

Friends now remember Kaitlyn Ellison.

“She was so smart, she had goals for herself and she was just a cute young girl,” said Christina Paoenske, former employee and girlfriend of Ellison.

On Saturday, Ellison, who was in the seventh month pregnant and her unborn child was killed by the alleged drunk driver in the USA 23 in Whiteford Township.

A preliminary investigation showed that Ellison was selected by a 24-year-old man from Oregon side.

According to witnesses, the driver raced past cars, then merged from the shoulder into the right trace and tried to pass Ellison left.

“It is very tragic,” said Paoenske.

Ellison drove a Ford escape and was supposedly forced from the street and rolled over an embankment several times before he came to a standstill on the side of the car.

“Kaitlyn had three beautiful children, she was pregnant with her fourth child,” added Paoenske.

Paoenske said she worked with Ellison in the Sam's club and clicked immediately.

The Sheriff's office in Monroe County announced in a release that the alleged drunk driver had run away from the scene on foot and was caught at a nearby pilot station.

It is less than three miles from the place where the crash was.

Paoenske said people should think twice before drinking and driving.

“Do not get behind the wheel of a car when you are intoxicated. Call an Uber, call a friend, let someone be a proven driver,” said Paoenske.

A Gofundme was set up by Ellison's sister to help her family.

The crash is examined.

While the man's name was not officially published, a 24-year-old man was instructed in the prison of Monroe County for two charges. One for ruthless driving that causes death and is not stopped at the scene of the accident that leads to death.

This man received a bond of 500,000 US dollars on Monday.

The crash is examined.
