Mitchell Hofer overcomes an injury before the game, progress in the semi -finals

Shortly before his quarter -finals -Matchup from Flight One against Milbanks Charles Whitesitt fell to the ground.

The 6-foot 5 athlete had moved to his right to meet his patented great forehand when he optimized his ankle.

After the chargers took a moment to test his foot, they used a medical break to speak to a trainer to ensure that there were no torn ligaments in Hofer's ankles. He also let his ankle glued on to offer a certain stability.

Hofer looked more like a deer with a white woman who learned how to go, or an imperial AT-AT hiker with his feet throughout the game, and moved in Burdts before limping pain as soon as someone had won a point.

“It was probably the worst of bricked up ankle that I had,” said Hofer.

Of course, WhiteSitt was directed by his trainer to paint the corners of the courtyard and move Hofer to return the ball. Hofer said his strategy was to try to remove all the angles that his opponent could use and cancel the network in order to remove all well -placed, winning shots.

Hofer's power was overwhelming even with his mobility. He swept the first set 6-0 and won the second without too much effort, 6-2 to get to the flight of a semi-finals.

“Mitchell is a fighter,” said Sioux Fall Christian Boys tennis coach John Williams. “He is definitely a competitor, and I know that he wants to win and he wants to compete and play to the best of all, no matter what is going on. So I knew that he would give it with 110%if he felt comfortable, and we had it okay from the coach that he would exist 110%.”

Hofer's victory means that he keeps his unbeaten season into the last day of the season. He was a central player in the State title of the Chargers' State title a year ago and won the Flight One State Championship as a newcomer. However, Hofer doesn't just play for his individual record. Sioux Falls Christian strives for your second state title in a row and third place in four years.

“I tried to just go one point,” said Hofer about his approach to his perfect season. “I know that everyone shoots a way for me because they know that I have the unbeaten record so far, but I'm just trying to do one point each. And hopefully we as a team too. This is the biggest part.”

After his quarter -final victory, Hofer immediately returned to the coach's room to publish his foot. The plan is that he is icy, increased and enough calmly before games.

“I just hope that it will be better for tomorrow so that I can improve because I have to win if I want to win,” said Hofer.

The Sioux Falls Christian Sophomore meets one -time singles on Tuesday in the flight of Aberdeen Roncalis Gannon May.
