The art of the man in Fredonia raises County Landscapes | News, sports, jobs

Tom Annear

The artist Tom Annear is currently exhibiting his Plein Air painting by Chautauqua County in the Living Glass Gallery in Westfield.

Many know Annar's work for his exquisite and typically sensitive representation of nature and its remarkable representation of sunsets and pretense. “Paintings of calm: Exploration of Chautauqua County” focuses on the changing light and weather conditions that change our area in the course of the year. His work of art enables the viewer to feel and encounter what it is like to live in the district of Chautauqua, to indulge in our unpredictable weather, and apparently love our topography. It admires the sky and light in a deliberate approach to make every painting appealing, and gives the viewer a place where he takes a break in a relaxing view of memories when he has experienced a look at the Erie shore of the lake or the vineyards from local farms and these hikes through the Suny Colleh woodenlots.

Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Annear moved to Fredonia in June 2000. He completed a BFA in Malen from Rutgers University. His work has shifted from political and abstract pieces to paintings that research the contemporary use of our environment.

“In the past 24 years I have completed a number of Plein air paintings that celebrate the beauty and history of the Western New York. Through these works, I tried to capture the unique geography, weather patterns and natural resources of the district of Chautauqua and beyond.

Instead of simply taking these landscapes, I approved the contours of the coast, the fields and the hills. the trees and vineyards; Weather; And the seasonal changes in light and color to inform the works. I hope that this exhibition gives the viewers an insight into the subtle and dramatic interplay of light and the weather changes that take place everywhere around us. “

His artist reception will take place on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Living Glass Gallery, 50 Main St.
