The Mayor of Colorado Springs testifies in the procedure for alleged hate criminal shoes in connection with the election 2023

Colorado Springs, Colorado (Krdo)-The process begins today for two of the three suspects that are accused of launching a fake hatred crime during the mayor race of 2023 in order to increase the support for Yemi Mobolade's candidate at that time-that he is now expected to defeat the stand today.

Mobolade will testify on Monday and Tuesday as a witness. Krdo13 caught him when he went to the courthouse on Monday afternoon, but he refused to answer questions from our crew.

The prosecutors say that Derrick Bernard Jr., Ashley Blackcloud and Deanna West exposed a campaign sign for Mobolade with a racist slur in April 2023 shortly before the mayoral elections in Colorado Springs and set a cross on fire. The three are then accused of taking photos and videos of the scene and sent to the media.

The event was initially regarded as a racially motivated attack on Mobolade, a black candidate who at that time ran against a white opponent. According to court documents, however, the investigators believe that Bernard, Blackcloud and West have staged the hate crimes in order to gain sympathy for mobolade and to swing the choice in his favor.

Additional court documents revealed messages between Mobolade and Bernard in the days before the alleged joke and a five -minute call just a few days after the incident.

However, Mobolade denied all participation and said in an earlier explanation that his interaction with Bernard was exclusively as a “local media personality”.

In March, West owed its part in the conspiracy. In the meantime, Bernard and Blackcloud submitted applications to reject their cases and stated violations of the first and fourth amendment. These applications were rejected at the beginning of this month, whereby the path for their federal proceedings on Monday, May 19, began.

It is also expected that the chief of police from Colorado Springs, Adrian Vasquez, will testify in this process this week that supervised the investigation of the incident.

Krdo13 crews are in Denver for the process and will share the latest details if the witnesses take the view. This is a developing history and can be updated if we learn more.
