The three-time NBA champion says that LeBron James is not yet in Laker's statue territory

The three-time NBA champion Byron Scott has a weakness for his era.

In the 1980s, Scott won the title with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside Magic Johnson, James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 1980s. They are among the laker sizes that have statues outside the Crypto Arena and join Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor and Jerry West.

For this reason, Scott believes that LeBron James still deserves the status of a statue.

“If he can reach 10 (years) and another ring,” said Scott with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson in all the Smoke Podcast. “Then I would say that he deserves a statue. But now, no.”

James played for seven seasons in Los Angeles and won a championship in 2020. Although he won the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavalier's title, Scott believes that James has to achieve more with the Lakers before taking the statue exam.

Even in the year No. 22, James still has time to win another championship. Nevertheless, he has a short window left before it closes.

“The Lakers standards are different,” said Scott. “Take a look at the statues that you have. Everyone has been with several championships in this uniform in purple and gold over 10 years. I don't shit what you did in maroon and gold, white and blue. It doesn't matter what you did. What did you do in purple and gold?
