TN bus driver quotes in administrative vacation after the students were injured during the crash

Sumner co., Tenn. (WSMV) – A school bus driver from Sumner County is on administrative vacation after the authorities claimed that they had thrown a bus into a stream and injured several students.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol gave Pamela Harris an offense of class C after saying that she did not have the remained care.

She drove 19 students on Monday and hit a bridge, making the bus turned into a dry stream bed.

“She just came straight towards the bridge again and again. I really couldn't believe it. I just watched her,” recalled Witf Earnest Wright.

According to the THP, at least five students were taken to the hospital.

Sumner County Schools says Harris has been with them for more than 30 years. In addition, bus drivers are subjected to extensive background checks and regular drug examinations.

Former SCS student Emilee James says Harris was her driver and believes that she is abused.

“So that THP quotes them for something that should essentially take care of County and City that is a little discouraging. It's annoying,” said James.

After the accident, renewed calls to improve the streets in the entire district were renewed.

James believes that the safety improvements are long overdue.

“Fix these streets, take the initiative and make sure that these roads are safe. Make sure these roads are accessible to buses. Make sure there is no opportunity for such things. That is what I would urge you,” pleaded James.

THP has not released the cause of the crash, but says that the injured will probably recover.

Sumner County School plans to meet with THP before the future of Harris's employment is determined.

A district spokeswoman says that she can be terminated or completed an additional training.
