The NBA conference finals have parity, but is it good for the business?

The final of the NBA conference is typing on Tuesday evening, May 20, when the Minnesota Timberwolves compete against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference. In the Eastern Conference it is the Indiana Pacers against the New York Knicks.

Why are new teams push to the top of the NBA?

The NBA will have a new champion for the seventh season in a row. This is the longest series in the history of the league without a repeat title winner, and it seems that parity stays here – at least for the foreseeable future.

There are many factors that explain why the league of dynasties such as the Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors moved away. On the one hand, there is a younger, deeper talent pool than ever before, which means that bankers carry great contributors to team success.

The thunder and timber wolves each have young superstars who are the way. The Minnesota star Anthony Edwards is only 23 years old. In the meantime, Oklahoma City has the latest list of the league with an average age of 24 years. The head coach of Thunder, Mark Daigneult, says that they are in the perfect situation.

“It is a lot to do how young our team is,” said Daignault. “And I think to be in a market on which the wind is with the back of young players and where they feel support from their fans – they do not feel judgment, they do not feel skepticism or negative – I think that helped our young players to grow up quickly.”

Is a small market success good for the business?

The NBA is only a few months away from a new 11-year-old 76-billion dollar media law business. Parity means that the majority of the league has a shot on the title every year, but the exclusion of large markets such as Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas asked many whether it will be good for television reviews. Small market teams like Oklahoma City do not quite have the draw nationwide.

The Pacers are also a young team and play on the country's 25th largest media market. You will start your seven-game series on Wednesday, May 21st, with the Knicks and revive a decades of rivalry. The story will certainly help to arouse interest and has become a major topic of conversation.

The Pacers Guard Tyrese Haliburton is exactly aware of Reggie Miller against Knicks from the mid -1990s.

“Excited to add more chapters to add this famous rivalry and continue to be part of it,” said Haliburton. “I look forward to playing in this building and I'm looking forward to the crowd.”

Knick's head coach Tom Thibodeau was a co -trainer in the 1990s and spent part of his time in New York against Millers Pacers. He pulls a large parallel between the two epochs.

“People want to see a big competition,” said Thibodeau. “A style game can change often. It could be faster, sometimes it is slow. The 90s were a crawl. Now the games are much faster, much more clever. It is different, but the competition was always the same.”

What if the New York Knicks are ahead?

The competition will surely be there this month, but if the Knicks – which are playing on the No. 1 media market – – finally have the front, the conspiracy theories about who would rather see the league in the final will come to the fore again. When Daignult was asked about it, he shot any speech from the fact that the referees were influenced.

“Teams, players and coaches will use the media to try to influence the pipe as a competitive advantage,” said Daigneault. “The margins are thin in the playoffs. Everyone is looking for an advantage. Some teams will go. My mentality is, it is the final of the Western Conference. The boys who work these games are not here for an accident.”

Apart from the REFS, the parity of the league is not only fueled by a deeper talent pool, but the fact that the teams build through the design. Trades are also becoming more and more common Luka Dončić-in contrast to the signing of Mega superstars for Free Agent Treaties. These movements tend to compensate for the balance of power in the entire league.

However, it still has to be determined whether it leads to good business as a whole. At the moment, the league will drive its new storylines in mid -June and this wave from New Star Power to the finish line. The thunder is the betting favorites to bring their first title to Oklahoma City.
