John Elway speaks after the agent's death

Famer John Elway's professional football broke his silence on Wednesday evening after his long -time agent Jeff Sperbeck died of injuries suffering from a golf car accident in California.

“I am absolutely destroyed and with broken heart due to the death of my close friend, business partner and agents Jeff Sperbeck,” said Elway in an explanation about ESPN.

“There are no words to really express the profound sadness that I feel with the sudden loss of someone who means so much to me.

“My heart and deepest sympathy go to Jeff's wife Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him. Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love, which he has brought into my life and life.”

Sperbeck died early Wednesday at the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, days after the accident on Saturday in La Quinta, confirmed the Coroner's Office of the Riverside County. Sperbeck was 62.

Elway drove the golf car, and Sperbeck fell and hit his head on asphalt, TMZ reported on Wednesday. Sperbeck was put on a life increase after the accident.

According to Espn, Sperbeck was sitting on the passenger seat of the golf car.

The Riverside County's office initiated an investigation, and there was no indication that Elway ruthlessly drove the golf car, TMZ reported.

Sperbeck first became Elway's manager in 1990 and represented hundreds of NFL players by several agencies.

Some of his other customers were the Hall of Famers Ronnie Lott and Jim Plunkett.

In 2015, Elway and Sperbeck founded 7 cellare that produce Premium wines from Central California and Napa Valley.

Elway spent his entire 16-year career with the Broncos and won two super bowls. He also spent time in the Broncos front office.
