Driver who is involved in Deadly Lexington County Crash, who is charged with DUI

Lexington County, SC (WIS) – The authorities said that a man is now being killed in connection with a crash in which two women were killed in Lexington County at the weekend.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed WIS that Abel Ramierz Ortega is charged with two cases of crimes that lead under the influence of death. The booking documents also show that Ortega was charged without a driver's license and drive under suspension.

SCHP said that the wreck in question was at the intersection of the Neely Wingard Road on Sunday evening and Ben Franklin Road in Lexington County when a Jeep Laredo collided with a Chevrolet Malibu.

Two passengers in the Chevrolet and 22-year-old Claire Pierce from Lexington, and 21-year-old Eliza Udy from Leesville-died both from the consequences of the crash. The driver of the car was also taken to a hospital with non -life -threatening injuries.

Ortega identified as driver of the jeep and said he was the only person at the time of the crash.

The wreck remains examined.

On Tuesday, records show that Ortega is held in the Detention Center of Lexington County and the bond was refused.
