Recology confirmed death on this day, but gave no details about how the accident happened, and only said that the incident would continue to be examined.

The California department for professional security and health or CAL/OSHA has opened an investigation and has six months to issue quotes when violations are found.

Family declaration

What you say:

“It was a complete shock when I got the call from Recology and told me that my father had an accident at work and that he had died,” said Michelle Romero, the victim's daughter. “I couldn't imagine what kind of accident could have led to his death and the company would not tell us. They would only say that it was examined.”

Michelle Romero said her father came from a long series of men in the garbage industry.

“Garbage workers are our family and family fans. He should never have died at work that day,” she said. “It is our sincere hope that all the lessons that this horror can teach will actually be learned so that nobody else happens. We are really destroyed.”

Romero is survived by three children and four grandchildren.

A gofundme page was started to cover the funeral costs.
