City pays to the Robert Brown family, who was killed by San Bernardino officer in 2023

San Bernardino, California (KABC) – The city of San Bernardino has agreed to pay almost 5 million US dollars in the family of a man who was shot by the police in 2023.

Body Camera video, published by the San Bernardino police, shows that her official, who pursues the suspect, was armed with a stolen weapon in December 2023.

The shootout developed after the suspect Robert Brown ran out of his car after a traffic disability.

The police video shows how Brown bounces two fences, both times a pistol fall, which is visible in the video.

The police claim that the weapon was back in Brown's hand when the officer opened the fire.

According to the police, the 9 millimeter pistol from Las Vegas was stolen. They say that the 28-year-old from Rialto has a “deposit warning” for his arrest and an extensive crime history.

“$ 4.9 million do not bring my brother back. It doesn't heal the wounds in our hearts,” said his sister on Tuesday afternoon and spoke out in the name of the family. “Robert was a son, a brother, a uncle, a friend and especially a father … my brother was denied his day in court. Why should the officer completely avoid the court?”

The family calls for law enforcement when the shootout died.

Her lawyer Brad Gage claims that various policy was violated by the police authority on this day, and the applied force is inappropriate. The family then submitted the lawsuit that was included by the city for $ 4,881,250.00

The family says that the settlement – most of them gets into a trust – will support Brown's child.

Apart from the announcement of the solution of the case, the city of San Bernardino announced that it has no additional comment on the settlement.
