Trump announces the plan for Golden Dome, led by Space Force General

President Donald Trump wants his signature Golden Dome Missile Defense Program before the end of his term in office, he announced in the Oval Office on May 20 with Defense Minister Pete Hegseth.

“I was really looking forward to this day because this is very important for the success and even the survival of our country,” said Trump. “It is an evil world out there, so this is something that makes a major contribution to survival for the survival of this large country.”

Trump generated the vice boss of Space Force, General Michael A. Guetlein, who headed the project, which is expected to depend heavily on satellites and other space technologies in order to pursue and stop the incoming fire. Guetlein is a member of a key council who monitors the requirements for common acquisition programs and previously carried out Space Systems Command, the Space Force's acquisition arm.

Trump said that he wanted to end the project in “less than three years”, a much faster timeline than many analysts believe that technology is being developed and interpreted if the congress is decided.

Golden Dome would use a “state -of -the -art system that the next generation technologies across the country, in the sea and in space, including spatial -based sensors and interceptors,” said Trump. The network aims to protect America primarily from drones to hyper -sound weapons and ballistic rockets, threats that have too freely, limited or not promoted the country's current defenses in order to remove them.

Space Force and defense officers said Golden Dome would be a “system system” and not a project with a large ticket. The most ambitious proposals require spatial-based rocket interceptors, a technology that does not yet have to be developed.

“This design for the Golden Dome will integrate into our existing defense skills and should be fully functional before the end of my term,” said Trump. “As soon as the golden dome is completely constructed, it can intercept rockets, even if it is started from other sides of the world and even if they are started from space.”

He estimated that setting up the sign would cost around 175 billion US dollars -much lower than estimates from the referee's Congress Budget office, which said the program could cost $ 831 billion in the next two decades.

In the first phase of Golden Dome, the administration will catch up with a down payment of $ 25 billion, which is presented on the Capitol Hill in the expenditure package run by Republicans. Trump, Hegseth and Guetlein did not state any details about which components can be financed first.

“We will have a big phase very early,” said Trump. “We start immediately.”

The project is reminiscent of the strategic defense initiative of former President Ronald Reagan, which was announced in 1983. The United States spent billions of dollars for the endeavor, but never produced the network of antimissile systems that Reagan promised, “nuclear weapons impotent and outdated”. Proponents of Golden Dome say that the technology has progressed since then.

“We will really complete the job that President Reagan started 40 years ago and ended the rocket threat to American homeland forever,” said Trump.

But Trump realized that his proposal was a very ambitious, so -called “super technology” and in some cases theoretical.

“There is really no current system,” said Trump, before he alluded to the Us Nuclear Arsenal as the nation's main current accounting. “That will be very protective. You can be sure that there will be nothing like that. Nobody else can build it.”

In a certificate before the congress in March, Guetlein compared Golden Dome to the Manhattan project. No. 2 of the Space Force often warns of the new dangers to which America is exposed to and defends the creation of a separate spatial -oriented service and its niche functions.
