Jets' Jordan Travis to withdraw from the NFL, suffered serious leg injuries at the FSU in 2023

A New York Jets player had his NFL career ended before he officially started.

On Wednesday, Jets Quarterback Jordan Travis announced that he was advised to withdraw from football. The pick of the fifth round 2024 suffered a devastating leg injury towards the end of the 2023 season when he played in Florida State. He posted a photo of his farewell letter on social media:

The jets intend to place Travis in the list of reserve/pensioners. The 24-year-old spent his entire rookie year on the list of reserve/non-football injuries while he rehabilitated his leg injury.

“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn,” said Travis in a statement. “I gave everything I had, the rehab process, but despite all efforts, my leg never reacted as we hoped. After a lot of prayer and advice with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I was medically withdrawing from the game that I love so deep.”

Last year with the Seminols, Travis took 11 starts and led the team to an 11-0 record, while he threw for 2,734 yards, 20 touchdowns and only two interceptions and adding seven rushing results. He completed 64.1 percent of his passports and took fifth place in the vote for Heisman Trophy 2023 to establish himself as a fascinating NFL design view.

Unfortunately, the injury in a game against North Alabama Travis' future was derailed. The state of Florida also suffered powerful and became the first unbeaten Power Five Conference Champion, which was left out of College Football Playoff. The voters admitted that the controversial decision was made due to Travis' injury.

The jets still took a chance by using a fifth round to choose from Travis, although New York may not be the best landing site for him. The rich Cimini of Espn reported that Travis' agent said in March that the jets hurried his rehab and caused a setback in his recovery, even though it was “optimistic” about the chances of the signal neck, for the 2025 season.

It is now clear that a return to the football field for Travis is out of the question and that he has to pursue a new career much earlier than he would ever have expected.

“It is unfortunate that after so hard he couldn't return in the field,” said Jet's general manager Darren Mougey in a statement. “We support his decision and wish him the best.”
