Claim:

A video authentically showed the US President Donald Trump, in which he announced his plan for the American Academy, a free university that was financed by taxing, financing and storing large private universities.

Evaluation:

context

Trump's presidential campaign published the announcement of the American Academy on November 1, 2023. Social media users have shared the video since this date and incorrectly claimed that it had been published in recent times.

At the beginning of 2025, a video (archived) circulated online, which seemed to show the US President Donald Trump, in which he announced his plan for the American Academy. A free university Financed through taxation, financing and complaints from large private universities.

The video and the quotes of it circulated on Tikok (archived), Facebook (archived) and X (archived). The Snopes readers also sent us a message to ask if the video was authentic.

Trump announced his plans for the American Academy in a video (archived) by Trump's presidential campaign on November 1, 2023. This was the same film material used in the Tikok video and other requirements. We therefore evaluate this claim.

In the video, Trump partially said:

As part of the plan that I announce today, we will take the billions and billions of dollars that we catch up with by taxing, financing and suing excessive private university starts, and we will then use this money to determine a new institution called the American Academy named American Academy.

It will be his mission to provide every American, free of charge, a really first -class training without adding the federal debt a single cent. This institution will collect an entire universe of educational content of the highest quality that covers the entire spectrum of human knowledge and skills and provides this material to every American citizen free of charge.

Regardless of whether you have lectures or an old story or an introduction to financial accounting or training in a qualified trade, the goal is to deliver and do it properly by using study groups, mentors, industry partnerships and the latest breakthrough on the computer. This will be a really first -class educational option for people.

It will be strictly apolitical, and no “wokess” or jihadism is allowed – none of it will be allowed.

The most important thing is that the American Academy will compete directly with the existing and very costly four-year university system by graduating from students who will recognize the US government and all federal entrepreneurs from now on. The Oscar is awarded the complete and complete equivalent of a Bachelor's degree.

Social media contributions in March and April 2025, in which the plan for the American Academy was a new announcement, are wrong because the academy was part of the election campaign.

The video with Trump authentic – which was not generated by artificial intelligence, was a real political point at the time of its publication.

Trumps American Academy Plan was widely reported on sales outlets such as Politico, The Atlantic, Forbes, MSNBC and The Wall Street Journal.

Critical reporting moved parallels to Trump University, a collection of short courses, including a real estate training program. The “University” closed in 2011 and Trump included three fraud disputes in connection with their real estate courses in 2016.

We contacted the Press Office of the White House to ask whether the American Academy was still part of the Trump government's policy in 2025, and if so, what was the latest update to develop the project. We are waiting for an answer.

The Republicans make tax plans for the Mull, who could collect donations

In the announcement video, Trump proposed that the American Academy would be financed by “taxation, financing and suing excessively large private university”.

The start of the university are money and other financial assets made available by private donors from a university in order to act as a long -term source of income for the institute. They are generally separated from the government financing.

Since the law on tax reductions and jobs, which was rightly right in 2017 during the first Trump administration Foundation assets exceeded $ 500,000 per student. A leaked memo From the Republican of the House Budget Committee in January 2025, proposals to increase tax yields from 1.4% to 14% contained the number of university's foundation income and expand the number of universities required for payment.

Congress republicans were included from the creation of updated budget laws to enact Trump's different guidelines at the time of this letter.

Apart from a potential increase in the foundation income tax, it was unclear at the time of this letter whether the Trump government had still intended to build up the American Academy and to complain to excessive private university.

The Trump administration has federal financing for the financing of the state At least seven Universities, six of them in the Ivy League, for reasons, including alleged violations of civil rights, allegations of anti -Semitism on campus and the failure to meet the government's demands on the requirements of the administration, set Diversity, justice and inclusion practices. Harvard University sued the Trump administration after frozing federal financing worth billions of dollars to the institution.
