“I'm back.”

Milwaukee Bucks fans probably want to hear how Giannis Antetocounmpo use these words every day in the middle of the chatter about his future.

It is also pretty good to hear her for another Antetocounmpo.

“I'm back, I'm back,” said a radiant Thanasis -antetocounmpo during a live recording of his podcast “Thanalysis Show” in the PotaWatomi Hotel & Casino. “I'm back. I'm back.”

The older antetocounmpo only refers to resuming its basketball career, if not with the goals. The doctors gave him the approval of returning to basketball after missing the 2024-25 season with a torn Achilles that he had suffered a little more than a year ago.

Where he continues his career is another question. Antetokounmpo, who played five seasons with the Bucks from 2019 to 2024, is a Free Agent last summer after his contract with Milwaukee.

The episode was shot at the end of March, but was released in Podcast channels, the YouTube account and the show platforms of the show last week. Antetokounmpo discussed his injury and recovery at the end of 2024 in December and found that his goal was to always return to the NBA.

That hasn't changed.

Antetocounmpo spoke more about the injury and the support that he had last year during his second annual “Thanalysis Live”, who attracted several current Bucks players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez and Brandon Jennings by Twin Brother Robin and Bucks fan.

Thanasis Antetocounmpo injury

Antetocounmpo came with the Bucks from his fifth season when he went through a training session. He said he started his routine and said it felt like someone had kicked.

“The game ended the game,” said Antetocounmpo.

He first asked for a warm patch for his flight – he should fly to Greece after shooting a podcast – but then a trainer recognized “something wrong”. He pressed Antetocounmpos calf and began to “cry, cry”.

“The doctor came right afterwards and they told me that they may have torn an Achilles,” recalled Antetocounmpo.

Antetocounmpo couldn't believe it.

“I'm definitely not, I didn't like it,” he said. “I feel pain, but pain is pain.”

Two mrts confirmed his diagnosis.

Thanasis antetocounmpo injury -update

Antetocounmpo was operated on the next day and his long recovery began. He became visible to the public in his podcast at Bucks Games, the 2024 Olympic Games.

But behind the scenes, Antetocounmpo has undergone the “emotionally exhaustive” process of rehab.

“Because I make all of these things off,” he said, “just accept people, 'Oh, you are, you are fine,” he said. “No, basketball has changed my life.”

Indeed. This was the first time in 14 years that Antetocounmpo was not on the pitch, be it overseas, for its national team or in the NBA.

“I do all of these things outside of the court and the people are as if you should do it, you should do that, that was the most strenuous thing,” he said. “Now people don't think about basketball, don't understand that I still did it every day today. Rehabilitates on.”

Antetokounmpo defines goals throughout the process.

“When you are healthy, you have a number of problems, everything bothers you,” said Antetocounmpo. “But when it comes to health, you only have one problem. Only one thing. Only how to get well, how to get back. I couldn't walk and then I started to place the goals. Let me get out of my boot at the Olympic Games, I tried, I couldn't.

And now, a year after the injury, he is ready to resume his basketball career.

“I'm back, I'm back,” said Thanasis.

Thanasis antetocounmpo about his support

Antetokounmpo said his support system helped him to recover.

“I am grateful for my family, my friends,” he said. “Like this, my brothers (former teammates in the crowd in the podcast show). Like Brook (Lopez), these boys. They are my brothers. They call me, a SMS. You are good.”

Thanasis said that today many people are “in their own bladder” and that they “will speak to them, but they really don't listen. That was not the case for him.

“To take care of her so much for me, 'Hey Ta, how you do it', even though you go through this painful season or the training camp or the summer to really look like me that I was happy. I was glad to have really people in my corner,” he said.

Antetokounmpo supported her because he was regularly present at Buck's home games last season and even cheered on the team in Las Vegas last December during his course of the NBA Cup championship.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Current Team 2025

Antetokounmpo, 32, has no current team. He is a free agent.

He last played for the Bucks in the 2023-24 season before his injury. He played in just 34 games outside the bank and an average of 4.6 minutes, although Giannis Antetocounmpo went beyond the statistics, the presence of his brother often praised the franchise and the meaning for him.

In addition to the Bucks, Thanasis played an antetocounmpo in 2016 for the New York Knicks. He then had stints in Europe, including 2018 and 2019 with Panathinaikos.
