Rodri: The midfielder of Manchester City returns with ACL injury after eight months

Manchester City Rodri's midfielder returned with a knee injury on Tuesday after eight months.

Rodri received standing ovation when he was replaced in the 83rd minute of the 3-1 win by City against Bournemouth in the Etihad Stadium.

It is the first time that the 28-year-old played in a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in September since the break of his front cruciate ligament (ACL).

When Rodri suffered the injury, City was the top of the Premier League, but their season dissolved and they had to give their title to Liverpool, who won the league with four games.

Pep Guardiola's team is currently in third place in their last game of the season against Fulham.

A tie in Craven Cottage will probably be enough to secure the City next season the Champions League football.

Rodri won the balloon d'Or in 2024, who was awarded to the best footballer of the year after helping Spain to win the euro last summer.

He also won the Premier League, the UEFA Super Cup and the World Cup with City last season.
