State prison led to Sunday to shoot death in Columbia: police

According to the authorities, an incident led to the death of a Columbia man on Sunday, May 18, to the death of a Columbia man. As a result, Boone County's public prosecutor does not plan any charges.

The police answered the shootout at around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, in which Derek Gonzalez (32) was killed from Columbia. He and a passenger were taken to a local hospital. The passenger was in a stable state, the police reported beforehand.

The police said that through their investigation, two drivers who traveled west to the Grindstone Parkway were hit in traffic. One followed the other to the parking lot near McDonald's on Nifong Boulevard, there was a confrontation and both drivers shot together. Gonzalez was one of the drivers.

Everyone involved in the incident was interviewed and after the police had checked the case with Boone County prosecutor Roger Johnson, the decision was made not to take criminal charges.
