Indy 500: Team Penske Fire Team President, General Manager and Managing Director after the fraud scandal | F1 news

Roger Penske released team president Tim Cindric, the managing director of Indycar Ron Ruzewski and the General Manager of Indycar, Kyle Moyer, after a 500 fraud scandal from Indianapolis 500.

“Nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport and our racing teams,” said Penske in a statement on Wednesday.

“We have had organizational failures in the past two years and had to make necessary changes. I apologize to our fans, our partners and our organization for letting them down.”

Penske is the owner of the three-car team, Indycar, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy 500.

The two-time defending champion of Indianapolis 500, Josef Newgarden and Team colleague Will Power, became an illegally modified part of their cars before the final qualification round on Sunday for the 109th run of the Indianapolis 500.

Neither was allowed to qualify and both on Monday were fallen on the rear part of the field and starts 32nd and 33rd place.

Competition teams have argued that it is not enough because it is the second fraud scandal in two seasons and illegal cars that Jacob Abel from Dale Coyne Racing came off the field.

Cindric and Ruzewski had already been exposed to Indycar for the race and both teams with a fine of $ 100,000. It is the second year in a row in which they were suspended by “the greatest spectacle in racing”.

The problem for Team Penske began before the almost 12 shootout on Sunday, when the competing team owner Chip Ganassi belonged to a choir of competitors who accused it. They found that non-approved changes had been made to the rear weaker, a safety device that absorbed and reduced the effects of the effects, and the assumption was that the modifications had given the two team penske cars an aerodynamic advantage in their qualification runs with four rounds.

A year ago, Team Penske was involved in a push-to-pass scandal in which Newgarden had access to an additional upswing in horsepower if he was not in the season. He was held by his victory and his team owner Roger Penske, who also belongs to Indycar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, for two races, including the Indy 500.

Cindric is the biggest name that can fall in this scandal. He is a member of the Penske Hall of Fame team and has been working in the organization as President of Penske Racing Inc. since 2000.

Cindric was collected in 2005 for the role of President of Penske Performance and, by February, essentially carried out the daily business processes of all racing by Penske.

But Most of his roles were robbed by Penske's Right-Hand-Mann in February, although he said that he had decided to resign as a general leader of the organization. He remained president of the Indycar program.
