Ampere emphasizes conventional contents on YouTube

Almost 40 percent of the monthly active users of YouTube worldwide use the platform to see conventional television and film contents, including documentaries, according to ampere analysis.

By Ampere, the most consumed content on YouTube last month, music was 56 percent, followed by comedy and how-tos at 39 percent and 29 percent. The top 5 also contains documentaries with 24 percent as well as films and television programs with 23 percent. The audience profile for each of these two categories is clear, Ampere realizes that 22 percent saw each other, while 37 percent only saw television and film, and 41 percent only looked at documents. For both, the audience leaves 35 to 44 and at home with families.

The Asian -Pacific space has shown a special preference for traditional content on YouTube – 45 percent of monthly active users who viewed documents and television/films – like Latam in 40 percent, with Western Europe only 28 percent and North America between 37 percent.

Smart TV Penetration drives long shape consumption on YouTube, whereby Ampere determines that 34 percent of those who saw documentaries and television programs/films on YouTube last month uses a smart TV for at least part of their visit, compared to 22 percent of the YouTube users in general.
