NBA playoffs show the importance of defense in front of the NBA draft

All up to four teams have now turned to the first major milestone of the NBA new season: the draft.

New York, Indiana, Oklahoma City and Minnesota are still fighting in the post -season and it is guaranteed that at least one drought in the championship will end shortly.

A trend that shows in every single off -season – but especially this year – was the defense. The gate and the general crime are often the most striking properties, but defensive teams continued, while some of the league's best evaluation teams were displaced.

The long -standing favorites to win the title in Thunder best illustrates this. Outside the leading goal scorer in the NBA in the future MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the team is largely fueled by its defense mentality. Players like Chet Holmgren, Cason Wallace, Luguentz there and Alex Caruso portray this, but even like Gilgeous-Alexander and other goal shooters, statistically followed one of the best units of all time to compensate for one of the best units of all time.

Compared to thunder are the Timberwolves that participate in this identity. While Star Anthony Edwards is a productive goal scorer, he can also defend with the best with the best when he is locked up. Minnesota also employs the four-time winner of the year, Rudy Gobert in color, together with stopper Jaden McDaniels, Nickeil Alexander Walker and much more.

In the east, the Knicks also made defense priority. In the last two seasons you have added some of the best two-way wings and strikers of the league in Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart between Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The only exception of the rule this season is the Pacers, who are more about a quick offensive identity, which certainly still have a capable defense.

NBA teams on the draft should certainly take note of the effect of defense in the NBA. This does not necessarily mean that the defense players only drive exclusively, but highly enthusiastic two-way players do not often see the post-season effects that have been recognizable for decades.
