European parliamentary names 5 Legislators who aim at the Huawei -Besthestetchungskandal

The authorities have asked Parliament to do without the immunity of the legislators so that they can be examined under the probe that has been lasting for two months.

They are accused of accepting gifts from Huawei in return for lobbying for the interests of the company in parliament.

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, appointed legislators on Wednesday as Maltese Socialist Member Daniel Attard, the Bulgarian Central Legislator Nikola Mintchev and three Italian members of the European People's Party of the Mitte-Rechts-Salvatore de Meo, Fulvio Martusciello and Giussi Princi.

The committee for legal matters of the parliament will now take into account the application by Belgium's state prosecutor and design a report. The committee will vote on immunity that a final decision is made in a coordination of all 720 members of the parliament.

Huawei has denied any misconduct and said that “a zero tolerance guideline compared to corruption or other misconduct, and we undertake at any time to comply with all applicable laws and regulations”.
