Israel's Netanyahu says “It seems” Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar was killed

Israel probably killed Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday during a press conference.

Sinwar is the current head of the Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip. He took over from his brother Yahya Sinwar in October 2024 after being killed by Israeli armed forces in southern Gaza.

“We have eliminated tens of thousands of terrorists,” said Netanyahu and added by Hamas destinations, “we removed the leaders of the murderers Deif, Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar and it seems that we also removed Mohammed Sinwar.”

Netanyahu spoke of the ongoing military operation in Gaza and said that the strip would be under Israel at the end of the war.

“Our armed forces are taking more and more territory in Gaza. At the end of the move, all areas of the strip will be under Israeli security control,” he said.

“I am ready to end the war for clear terms that guarantee the security of Israel – all hostages have returned home, Hamas defines her weapons, his leadership is overthrown, Gaza is completely demilized and the Trump plan is implemented,” said Netanyahu.

“Anyone who calls us to stop the war before these goals will ask us to leave Hamas in power,” he added.

On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces announced the beginning of a new “extensive ground operation” in Gaza called “Operation Gideon's Chariot”.

Since the IDF intensified the air raids into Gaza stripes, including a strike that aims to lead the Hamas leader near Khan Younis in southern Gaza on May 13th.
