Jonesboro woman who is accused


Jonesboro, Ark.-a mother, is charged with numerous crimes after a probable affidavit, which claims that she was caught on home surveillance cameras who beat and throw her two-year-old son.

Kyla Maelyn Bates, 25, from Jonesboro, sees three counts of the second degree battery, a second class criminal offense compared to a second degree, which endangers the well -being of a minor, a class A.

The district judge of Craighead County, Tommy Fowler, set a deposit at 150,000 US dollars in cash or a guarantee on Wednesday. He ordered no contact with the child who is in the care of the accused's mother. The judge ordered that the only attendance with the child must be a visit to the presence of the Human Services department.

“Don't play around with my order without contact,” said Fowler.

“We won't be,” said Bates.

Fowler also said that the authorities can still check the video material and that further fees can be submitted.

In the affidavit, the likely cause found that the Jonesboro police authority was informed of videos of a young person on May 16, which was beaten and thrown around by a female topic. A witness turned the police from the police and identified the suspect as Kyla Bates, with the young person being her two -year -old son.

Detective wrote in the affidavit that the videos showed two separate cases in which the victim cried. During this time, Kyla Bates hit the victim on his back with an open hand, raised him up, shook him on his arms and continued to scream the victim to the Obher. During one of the videos, Bates were seen as she pulled out her pants, got another couple and the victim hit her pants.

Detective Colton Brown was assigned the case for further investigations. He spoke to the witness who also lived with Bates. The witness had surveillance cameras in the living room and in the kitchen of the residence. He agreed to hand over the entire previous year's material to the detective.

According to an affidavit, the police discovered a third incident when he checked the film material. It says that the encounter started when Bates hit the child in the head.

“She begins to scream the victim several swear words before approaching him and hits him in the chest to pick him up,” said the affidavit of the detective. “After all of this, Kyla Bates picks up the victim and throws him through the room on a couch, where he then falls on the floor.”

On May 21, Bates turned and was taken to the Craighead County Having Center.

All suspects are innocent until they have been proven in court.
